Licensing: All dogs and cats must be licensed within the City of Fruita. This license must be renewed annually.
Vaccination Required: No person shall own, keep or harbor in the City of Fruita, any dog or cat over four months of age unless such dog or cat has been vaccinated for rabies.
Spaying or Neutering: The F.P.D. recommends that you spay or neuter your dog or cat before they have puppies or kittens. This is healther for the pet and it keeps them from wanting to roam as much. This also helps control pet over-population.
*F.P.D. no longer has a holding facility in Fruita. All animals picked up by the animal control officer in Fruita are transported to the Mesa County Animal Shelter.
Impound Fee's: Impound fee's are $25.00 dollars. F.P.D. puts a hold on the animal for five days, and releases the animal permenatly after the five day period to the Mesa County Animal Shelter.
